A Southern Summer

Can you believe it's already halfway through June? I certainly can't! Well, I'm pretty excited about this summer for many reasons: frozen yogurt, sunny weather, a couple fun excursions frozen yogurt and a great internship with Southern Weddings/Lara Casey Media. Did I mention frozen yogurt? Anyway, I've been interning with Lara Casey Media (the umbrella company over Southern Weddings among others) since February and I LOVE it. The women I work with are incredible, truly inspiring and so much fun to be around. I couldn't even begin to express how much I've learned about the wedding and magazine industries. Lara Casey is a leader in her field and it's so great to work with someone that is not only amazing at what they do, but wholeheartedly passionate about it too.

While I'm not sure what my intern duties will include this summer, I know I'll probably be helping a lot with their next issue, V4, which comes out this September. We've already had a couple photo shoots and there are certainly more to come! Over the last four months, my responsibilities have varied greatly. I've handled the classic intern tasks of running errand, photocopying and frequent trips to the post office, but I also helped out with a huge Indian wedding for Lara's event planning company, Bliss Event Group. So if you ever need a couple of 50-foot table-runners or fabric flower garlands, I can definitely show you how to make them!

I'm so excited about a summer in Chapel Hill and continuing my time with Southern Weddings. I've already met so many incredible people through this internship and I know there are so many more over the next several months! I'll be taking summer school as well, and maybe even applying for a job at YoPo to satisfy my constant need for frozen yogurt. Happy summer!
