What a great summer!

To everyone who participated in any way with the Intern Diaries blog this summer 2010, thank you so much! I know we are all busy and love to be eating watermelon or chilling by the pool, but you guys are straight stellar for finding the time to share your experiences with others amidst the craziness. Thank you to all the UNC students but also a special thanks to the alumni, faculty and Ed, real people who have worked or are currently working in the industry for taking a minute to share what it's really like and how to get there. Please continue to keep in touch.

These articles and pieces of advice are so valuable, and I have no doubt the new members of CAFME (UNC's magazine club on campus) will continue to reference them and use the tidbits you shared. I have made so many professional friends through creating this blog, and I have no doubt these friendships will continue.

In honor of the blog and to welcome all interns back to school, CAFME is holding an Intern Welcome Home Pizza Party at its first meeting (September 1). We cannot wait to kick off this school year with our fall "Editor Tour" that will include a guest speaker/editor from a different local magazine each week. We hope to start building connections with local magazines and learn more about breaking into the industry.

This blog will no longer be used. CAFME is in the process of creating a new blog to write about the meetings during the school year for those who cannot attend due to classes or other conflicts.
