Busy, Busy!

Whew! This week has been a whirlwind for us here at the Yancey Journal. Burnsville, NC is a HUGE tourist attraction/ vacation home to lots of people in the summertime when the flowers and trees are in bloom here in the mountains. Local businesses love this time of year because it usually means big business. Most of the local shops here specialize in locally made goods, such as pottery and different kinds of art. And when the tourists and visitors come, these things are what they are looking for.

Every summer, the Yancey Journal puts out a summer visitors guide called the Heart of the Blue Ridge. It is a large pull out full of little articles and ads from local businesses, telling people what they are and why they should stop by. I've been working on that since last Friday and it goes to press this Friday. I have done three articles on new businesses. I have to edit two more today, write another one, and then go interview a new business owner and write that one up, as well. All by this evening... So it's a busy day!

Also, I wrote a story about the need for foster care in Yancey County and its on the front page of today's paper!
