The Other Southern Weddings Girl!

Hey y'all! My name is Cara, and I am the other Southern Weddings girl. (Yes- There are two of us!)

My first three weeks at
Southern Weddings have been amazing! I could not have asked for a more perfect summer opportunity and a more perfect introduction to the magazine industry.

Let's get down to business.
My
first day at Southern Weddings was a photo shoot at Fearrington Village!

This place

Isn't it gorgeous?!

Not only was I in a beautiful location- I was introduced to some of the best people in the wedding industry (could not contain my awkward excitement!)

Jose Villa is one of the most well-respected photographers in the wedding industry. It was so much fun to be on a shoot where there were people that were so professional! He must have shot at least 100 rolls of film (whew!) and was so funny and kind.

Joy Thigpen was the stylist for the shoot - she was the mastermind behind the camera. She set up table arrangements, worked with the models and basically was amazing. In sum. She has worked with Southern Weddings a few times and the consensus is that was that we definitely love working with her any chance we get.

Want to see some of the shoot? I don't blame you! Here is a sneak peak at what is going to be in the next print edition!

So what have I been up to since then? My days are full of putting together image boards for the Southern Weddings blog.

Many of them look like
this- which is one of my favorite boards that I've worked on!

I also run lots of errands, like a true intern. I wait in line at the Chapel Hill post office everyday and I see the FedEx man a lot. The other day I got to take the SW SUV out and about to go gather fabric, paper, stamps and paint (among other things).

Oh, did I mention that my boss (Lara Casey) is also the owner of
Bliss Event Group? The staff is also, conveniently, the staff of Southern Weddings. So, this weekend I will be working/attending my first Indian wedding. How exciting is that? Here is their blog.

So, needless to say, I have been gathering ribbons and wrapping risers and putting together menus. Tomorrow we will be going over to Washington Duke Inn to set up! And then Saturday will be a full day starting for me at 5:15 am.
Whoo hoo!

Can't wait!

I will try to post on here regularly what I am doing at SW, but if you wanna know more I have my own blog!
http://asouthernsummer.blogspot.com/

I don't just talk about SW, I also talk about my inspirations, experiences, friends, good times and home.

Until then,
Cara
